Guest lecture of Prof. Mustafa Özbilgin: "Global Diversity Management",
November 6th 2008, 18.15-20.00, University of St. Gallen, Room 09-012

Following the publication of "Workforce 2000", 'diversity management' has
become one of the most uttered words in both business and academic circles
alike. Today, global diversity management has become an imperative for
multinational organizations. One of the main influences encouraging global
diversity management has been the expansion of the national laws and
international policies on elimination of discrimination. However, while
there is extensive national variation in interpretation and implementation
of equal opportunities laws and practices, diversity management is an
expressly American concept. Arguing that national and domestic
considerations of diversity management are insufficient to explain the
challenges individuals, organizations and countries are facing, Prof.
Özbilgin will talk about the key global influences on the choice of mode
in global diversity initiatives.
