Full Professorship of Structural Biology and 

Head of the Life Sciences Department at PSI 

 

The Department of Biology (www.biol.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich and the Paul
Scherrer Institute (PSI), Villigen (www.psi.ch) invite applications from
candidates who pursue a strong research program in structural biology
using X-ray analysis of macromolecular structures, and who have a proven
interest in instrument and methods development. They should have a
vision of how their research can contribute to the further development
of world-class beamlines at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) enabling
structural biological investigations at different length scales.

 

Teaching at ETH Zurich involves contributing to the curriculum of the
Department of Biology at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. He or she
will be expected to teach undergraduate courses (German or English) and
graduate courses (English).

 

The Department of Biology and PSI offer a stimulating environment for
structural biology and offer access to first class experimental
facilities (photons at SLS, and neutrons at SINQ). The future professor
and Head of the Department is expected to participate actively in the
elaboration of the scientific case of the next large scale facility to
be build at PSI - the X-ray free electron laser (XFEL).
