Assistant Professor of Lipid Function and Signaling

The Department of Biology (www.biol.ethz.ch<http://www.biol.ethz.ch>) in cooperation with the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (www.hest.ethz.ch<http://www.hest.ethz.ch>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for above-mentioned position. The professorship is expected to build a vibrant and internationally visible research program that combines state-of-the-art technologies in lipidomics, molecular biology, biochemistry and mouse genetics to generate fundamental new knowledge of how lipids regulate homeostatic mechanisms and contribute to disease. The activities should be integrated with ongoing efforts in the above-noted Departments in the areas of molecular physiology, energy homeostasis, genetics, cell dynamics, systems biology, structural and molecular biology. The successful candidate is also expected to develop translational research activities in the context of the molecular health sciences program of ETH Zurich. He or she will be a member of the Department of Biology and associated with the Department of Health Sciences and Technology and contribute to the teaching activities offered by these Departments at the bachelor and master level. The research group will be housed in the new Molecular Health Sciences Building of ETH Zurich dedicated to advance fundamental knowledge relevant for human health. The new professor will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English).

This assistant professorship has been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. The initial appointment is for four years with the possibility of renewal for an additional two-year period.
