Tenure Track Position - Experimental Materials Physics, Department of Physics

The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of an assistant professor. We are looking for an outstanding young experimental physicist with proven expertise in materials science. We are particularly interested in nano-materials with applications in energy harvesting and quantum technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an excellent independent research programme. Synergies with some of the Department's existing activities in condensed matter physics would be advantageous.

The Department of Physics at the University of Basel offers a stimulating and collaborative environment with internationally recognized research groups particularly active in both experimental and theoretical condensed matter physics. The department is home to the Swiss Nanoscience Institute, the Basel Center for Quantum Computation and Quantum Coherence, and is co-leading house of the NCCR Quantum Science and Technology (QSIT). More information is available at http://physik.unibas.ch.

The requirements include a PhD degree or equivalent, experience in research, and publications in international top journals. Duties include carrying out research at the highest international level, teaching at undergraduate and graduate level, and securing external funding. Moreover, the successful candidate will supervise master and doctoral theses and will take up administrative duties at the departmental level. Please send the application, including a curriculum vitae, a publication list, and a statement of research and teaching interests, to http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/4038/.
