The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel is seeking an
Assistant Professor in Medical Robotics and Micromechanics

The Department Biomedical Engineering (DBE) has recently been awarded a Flagship project from the Werner Siemens Foundation (Zug/Switzerland). The principal aim of this interdisciplinary project called Minimally Invasive Robot Assisted Computer-guided LaserosteotomE (MIRACLE) is the development of an endoscopic system for cutting bone with laser light. The University of Basel invites applications for an Assistant Professor level position in the scope of this Flagship project.

Requirements include:

  *   Several years of experience in robotics and micromechanics preferably in the medical area
  *   Habilitation or the academic equivalent
  *   Excellent scientific qualifications in issues relevant to medical robotics and micromechanics
  *   Proven ability and flair for teaching and education
  *   Excellent communication skills in English are required

Candidates will be expected to:

  *   Actively participate in the above mentioned Flagship project
  *   Have an excellent funding track record
  *   Develop the field with an emphasis on translational research and technology integration for clinical application
  *   Ensure close collaboration with clinical partners in the realisation of translational research projects
  *   Be successful at employee management and motivation within the research group
  *   Teach within the planned master program in Biomedical Engineering
  *   Team player with strong capabilities to work in an interdisciplinary project

  *   Habilitation or the academic equivalent
  *   Excellent scientific qualifications in issues relevant to medical optics and photonics in diagnostics and therapy; experience in OCT is highly welcome
  *   Proven ability and flair for teaching and education
  *   Excellent communication skills in English are required

Candidates will be expected to:
