Professor or Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Bioinformatics

The Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (www.bsse.ethz.ch<http://www.bsse.ethz.ch>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position. The professorship is located in Basel, the heart of the BioValley area, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration within this strong life science research community at the academic, clinical, and pharmaceutical industry level.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong and visible research programme in the area of methods and tools development for bridging between the analysis of raw biological data and scalable, domain-specific models and theories of biological systems. Research topics include, but are not limited to, primary data analysis, integration of heterogeneous data, and network inference, with preferential applications to areas of biomedical relevance.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computational Science, or related disciplines, and an excellent track record in methods development for statistical and mechanistic analysis of biological datasets. The future professor should have been successful in obtaining support for independent research projects and a strong publication record reflecting innovative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approaches to important problems in biology or medicine. Commitment to teaching and the demonstrated ability to lead a research group are expected. Undergraduate level courses are taught in German or English and graduate level courses in English.
