Professor or Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Security, Privacy and Society

The Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (D-GESS, www.gess.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position (open rank).

The successful candidate is working on public policy questions of information security and privacy at the intersection of computer science and social science and/or humanities. He or she has a background in any field of social science and/or humanities, a proven track record of interacting with computer scientists, and an internationally outstanding publication record.

The professorship will be embedded in an interdisciplinary group of researchers bridging several departments at ETH Zurich. The candidate should be able and willing to build and sustain an excellent research and teaching programme in such an environment. ETH Zurich and D-GESS offer an outstanding research infrastructure for various research approaches, including empirical and experimental research. In her or his teaching activities, the new professor will contribute to the "Science in Perspective" course and specialised master programmes at D-GESS as well as at other departments. These attract a wide range of excellent students from across the university. In general, undergraduate level courses at ETH Zurich are taught in German or English and graduate level courses are taught in English.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities. The level of the appointment will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications.
