The successful candidate should integrate a variety of experimental approaches to gain insight into the mechanisms underlying the repair of injured tissues after various types of insults. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=Default style='text-align:justify'><span lang=EN-GB style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>Topics/approaches may include analysis of (i) the heterogeneity of injured/healing tissues and the corresponding healing processes, (ii) the interaction of different resident and invading immune cell types, (iii) the signalling events that drive regeneration versus repair, (iv) the role of cell-matrix interactions in repair, (v) the influence of environment and stress factors (including mechanical factors, infection, toxins, UV irradiation) on the healing response, (vi) genetic and epigenetic mechanisms driving the response of tissues to injury, (vii) the role of the microbiome in the control of tissue repair and regeneration, (viii) the development of innovative approaches and technologies for the analysis of tissue repair/regeneration (e.g. advanced <i>in vivo </i>imaging) and the improvement of the repair process based on biological/biomechanical information.
