We encourage applications from outstanding candidates with visible expertise in this broad field which ranges from sustainable materials engineering to green manufacturing. Successful candidates must demonstrate an excellent international record of research accomplishments and shall be able to leverage this knowledge to solve important engineering challenges such as designing structures with sustainable and durable materials, developing lightweight, robust and resilient structures, and conceiving energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly and low-waste manufacturing processes. Specific areas of research may include (but are not limited to): (i) engineering with composite materials emphasizing sustainable solutions including natural, biodegradable, and recyclable materials as well as embedded multifunctionality at different scales, (ii) mechanical design and optimization, with a focus on reconfigurable, active and smart structures; (iii) manufacturing process design with the goal of reducing energy consumption, CO<sub>2</sub> emissions and non-reusable waste during the full product life-cycle. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;punctuation-wrap:hanging'><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>Successful candidates should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in engineering and have an outstanding international record of accomplishments in research on the above topics.
