The focus of this professorship will be on the interaction of the immune system with diverse tissue environments, with an emphasis on higher eukaryotic model organisms and relevance to patients. Approaches may include studies exploring innate and/or adaptive immune responses, responses to tissue damage caused by microbial invaders, autoimmunity, or mechanical injury, as well as immune responses in cancer, inflammatory or degenerative diseases.
