The demonstration of an outstanding research track record and a clear vision for future developments, preferably including the application of machine learning or artificial intelligence in materials science, are essential.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;punctuation-wrap:hanging'><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif'>Experience with static simulation methods (such as Monte Carlo) or dynamic simulations (atomistic or molecular) are desirable. This is to be combined with machine learning or coarse-graining techniques, possibly together with theoretical analysis to complement the simulations. The successful candidate’s research is expected to bridge time and length scales, from atomistic to macroscopic, to describe the corresponding materials properties and phenomena. Materials modeling in any branch of science or engineering will be considered. The new assistant professor (tenure track) or professor must be an effective and enthusiastic educator who will develop and teach courses in the curricula of Materials Science and Engineering and Interdisciplinary Engineering at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
