I'm guessing the MBR depends on the geometry ?
My CHS is 16'383, 16, 63.
It's not on this machine now, to use Partitions.Show detail ~

A  copy and paste of Partitions.ShowBlocks IDE0#00 0 1 ~
  could perhaps help me fix (restore) the fact that this IDE no longer is 
DOS bootable ?

This would remove a big annoyance for me.
