Ronald,
Very nice description of issues and your solutions.

I have a question for you.  Do you think there is a
market for buying a computer with Bluebottle already
installed?  Would you buy one if it were relatively
inexpensive?

I am toying with the idea of finding a restricted 
subset of hardware and just installing Bluebottle
on that and then reselling the system.  It would
be oriented toward those who simply want to have
a base system for document creation, email, and
web browsing.  The selling point would be that
the system is extensible and supported by the
user community (open systems software).

I discovered Oberon in 1992 and have been using
its various flavors ever since.
