Hi Peter,

For CD-ROMs, it prevents the user from eject the media.

ATA4spec can be found at http://www.myplace.nu/mp3/files/atapi-4_rev18.pdf. It also contains references to some other related specifications. In particular, chapter 6 of http://www.bunfactory.com:8080/shares/datasheets/cfspc2_0.pdf <http://www.bunfactory.com:8080/shares/datasheets/cfspc2_0.pdf> (Compact Flash specification) may be of your interest.

Cheers,
Sven

Stefan,

sw> I remember a problem with an (un- ?)locked media and i think it had
something to do with the AtapiBit. It should be easy to fix that in
NO. The accordant lines in AosATADisks.Mod should be commented with
"CF".

Thanks. I'll look at that.

I do not understand the point of the lock.
Is it the electronic equivalent of the write protect
slider on a floppy? Does ATA have the lock for an
hdd or just for removable media?

Really I should study the ATA specification ... if
it is available.

Thanks, ... Peter
