That adapter has a female PS/2 connector and a male USB A. 
I tested a similar adapter with a Logitech Model M-S48 mouse. 
The result was to burn out the Y axis photodiode.  It was hot enough to 
melt two spokes on the encoder wheel.  I haven't cut the adapter apart 
but will guess that it contains nothing but conductors. Whereas

suggests that something more is needed, for the M-S48 at least.

The adapter in alternate.nl might limit the current it passes and work for 
all PS/2 mice.  Another possibility is an inexpensive USB mouse.
