Hi Peter,

I call a state machine "fixed" when its operation is not modified once 
implemented, in contrast to a "programmable" state machine.

Yes, could be "Finite State Machine", I don't like this name, a 
sequencer in same cases, or a simple counter as in a FIR with MAC 
reusing architecture.
