Juice was an attempt to provide a portable solution for web based applications using a compressed
AST (abstract syntax tree) instead of JVM Byte code (which was in turn  based on P-Code and/or M-Code).

The idea of the compressed AST is in turn the basic idea for the new developments in the Java world
dubbed Truffle and Graal. AFAIK the group around Hans-Peter Mössenböck in Linz plays an important
role in these developments ...
