Professor of Mathematics (Operations Research)
The Department of Mathematics (www.math.ethz.ch) at ETH Zürich invites applications for a faculty position in mathematics of operations research. The duties of the future professor, who will be a member of the Department of Mathematics, include teaching and research in the mathematics of operations research and related areas. The perspective of the position includes the heading the Institute for Operations Research at ETH Zurich.
We are seeking candidates with an internationally recognized research record in mathematics related to operations research and with proven ability to direct research of high quality. Expertise and a strong background in optimization and/or computation will be especially appreciated. Willingness to teach at all university levels and to collaborate with colleagues from engineering and industry is expected.
Together with the colleagues from the department, the new professor will be responsible for undergraduate courses in mathematics at ETH Zurich for students of mathematics, engineering and natural sciences, and for graduate courses in the programmes MSc in Applied Mathematics, MSc in Computational Science and Engineering, MSc in Statistics, and MSc in Quantitative Finance (joint degree with the University of Zürich).
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English).
