Professor für Architektur und Konstruktion

Das Departement Architektur der ETH Zürich besetzt auf 1. Februar 2012 eine Professur für Architektur und Konstruktion. Im Rahmen des Masterstudiums Architektur vermittelt die Professur theoretische Grundlagen, methodische Kenntnisse und fachspezifisches Wissen auf dem Gebiet des konstruktiven Entwerfens. In der Forschung ist das gesamte Fachgebiet weiterzuentwickeln. Die Professur orientiert sich dabei am Verantwortungsbereich des Architektenberufes, der Baupraxis und dem Entwicklungsstand der Bautechnologie.
Die Professur betreut Entwurfskurse im Masterstudium. In Vorlesungen und Seminaren werden darüber hinaus Aufgaben des konstruktiven Entwerfens unter Berücksichtigung der Überlagerungen von Herstellungstechniken, Materialeigenschaften und Ökonomie behandelt.
Analog zur Lehre umfasst das Forschungsgebiet Thematiken der konstruktiven Praxis ebenso wie architektonische Strategien angesichts komplexer Anforderungen der Bauindustrie. Dabei sind transdisziplinäre Kooperationen sehr erwünscht. Ein Ausweis über bisherige Forschungstätigkeit ist von Vorteil.

Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten verfügen über ein substanzielles architektonisches Œuvre. Weitere Qualifikationen sind in der Regel ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, Lehrerfahrung sowie Kompetenz in der Bautechnik und in der Projektierung und Realisierung von Bauten hoher Qualität. Erwartet wird hohes Interesse an der Gestaltung des Unterrichts und an der laufenden Weiterentwicklung didaktischer Unterrichtsmodelle. Weitere Aufgaben umfassen die Führung einer Gruppe von Mitarbeitenden und Engagement für die Entwicklung des Departements Architektur über das eigene Fach hinaus.

Professor of Architecture and Technology

The Department of Architecture of ETH Zurich invites applications for a professorship in Architecture and Technology to be filled as of February 1, 2012.

Teaching includes Master courses in theory, methodology, and expert’s knowledge in the field of architectural design and technology. In the research field, the complete area of expertise has to be enhanced. In doing so, the professorship is geared towards the responsibilities of the profession as an architect, construction theory, and the stage of development of construction technology. Furthermore, the different tasks of the constructive planning considering the complex overlap of manufacturing technology, material property and economics will be discussed in lectures and workshops. The new professor will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English).

Analogue to teaching, the research field includes the constructive practical experience level as well as the development of architectural strategies considering the standards of the constructing industry that become more and more complex. Thereby, transdisciplinary cooperation is very welcome. A performance record of previous research work is an advantage. 

In addition to a university degree, the successful candidate possesses a substantial architectural performance record. Further qualifications are practical experience in teaching as well as the competence and experience in structural engineering, in project planning, and realization of constructions of high quality. Management of a group of employees, didactical motivation and competence, further development of didactic class models as well as the endeavors to the development of the Department of Architecture of ETH Zurich are expected.
