Funding Opportunities for PhDs and PostDocs in Humanities and Social Sciences



The IED and the Association of Scientific Staff at GESS (ASST-GESS) will host a half-day workshop on research funding opportunities for Humanities and Social Sciences. External participants are welcome provided that places are available. The workshop takes place on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from 14.00 to 17.00 at HG E21.



Representatives of the following organizations will present their programs and opportunities for short- and long-term research funding:



·         ETH-Fellowships http://www.vpf.ethz.ch/services/ETH_Fellows/

·         Euresearch http://www.euresearch.ch/

·         Branco-Weiss Fellowships http://www.society-in-science.org/

·         Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) www.snf.ch<http://www.snf.ch/>

·         Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) http://www.snis.ch/



Topics will include:



·         Possible research fields

·         Personal eligibility of applicants

·         Procedure of application / formalities

·         Evaluation process (criteria, time requirements)

·         Number of grants provided / Success rate

·         Amount granted (full grant / matching funds)

·         Obligations during project work etc.



There will also be time for general questions as well as for discussions during an Apéro. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet the organizational representatives for clarifying specific questions and / or presenting your research proposal in an individual conversation.
