Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Energy Technologies
The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (www.mavt.ethz.ch<http://www.mavt.ethz.ch>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position. Candidates would perform research and teaching in the broad area of fundamentals and application of energy technologies. Possible thematic areas include heat transfer and thermodynamics, reacting flows and combustion, interface of energy systems and materials, multiphase flow transport processes, from large scale to nano‐scale technologies and applications, energy storage with emphasis on electricity and chemical energy carriers. Active experimental research supported by computational modeling is highly desirable.
The successful candidate should have an internationally recognized track record in energy‐related research, be able to initiate, build, and sustain a strong externally funded research program, and be willing to effectively supervise masters and doctoral students, and commit to high‐quality teaching. A strong desire to actively participate in multidisciplinary collaboration is expected. Courses may be taught in English.
This assistant professorship has been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. The initial appointment is for four years with the possibility of renewal for an additional two-year period and promotion to a permanent position.
