The Department of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Science, University of Basel, invites applications for a
Professorship in Plant-Microbe Interactions (open rank)
We are looking for a scientist with an outstanding track-record in the field of plant microbe interactions. The successful candidate will help to further develop the strategic axis Ecology and Plant Systems, for which the Department of Environmental Sciences is already internationally renowned (www.duw.unibas.ch<http://www.duw.unibas.ch>).

The candidate is expected to:

  *   establish a world-class research programme in current topics of plant-microbe interactions, such as plant-mycorrhiza relationships, rhizosphere ecology, or plant-pathogen interactions,
  *   teach undergraduate (in German and English) and graduate level (in English) courses in the master programmes Plant Science and Ecology,
  *   actively collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Environmental Sciences and collaborate in joint research projects within and outside the University of Basel,
  *   actively participate in the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center (www.plantsciences.uzh.ch<http://www.plantsciences.uzh.ch>) and in the Swiss Plant Science Web (www.swissplantscienceweb.ch<http://www.swissplantscienceweb.ch>).
