Im Departement Materialwissenschaft (www.mat.ethz.ch<http://www.mat.ethz.ch>) der ETH Zürich ist die oben erwähnte Position zu besetzen.

Wir suchen eine exzellente Kollegin oder einen exzellenten Kollegen im Feld der Materialien in der Robotik, d.h. neue Materialien, die die Funktionalität von Robotern signifikant verbessern. Die Assistenzprofessur ist in ein dynamisches und interaktives Umfeld der Robotikforschung und der Mensch-Maschinen Wechselwirkung, welches sich über mehr als drei Departemente der ETH Zürich erstreckt, eingebettet. Die Kandidatin/der Kandidat weist ein herausragendes Forschungsportfolio im Bereich der weichen oder harten Materialien mit einem direkten Bezug zur Anwendung, im Idealfall zur Robotik, aus. Engagement in der Lehre sowie die Fähigkeit eine Forschungsgruppe zu führen werden erwartet. Die zukünftige Professorin bzw. der zukünftige Professor ist eine enthusiastische Lehrperson, die projektbasierte Kurse des Lehrplanes der Materialwissenschaft unterrichtet und weiterentwickelt.

Assistenzprofessuren dienen der Karriereförderung junger Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler. Das Tenure Track-Verfahren an der ETH Zürich ist mit denjenigen anderer erstklassiger internationaler Universitäten vergleichbar. Während diese Position in erster Linie auf der Stufe Assistenzprofessur besetzt werden soll, werden in Ausnahmefällen auch Bewerbungen auf eine Vollprofessur berücksichtigt.

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Robotic Materials

The Department of Materials (www.mat.ethz.ch<http://www.mat.ethz.ch>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.

We are searching for excellent candidates to develop a world-leading research program in robotic materials, i.e. new materials with properties that enhance robotic functionality. The assistant professorship will represent the focus of an extensive ETH collaborative network, involving colleagues engaged in robotics and the human-robot interface in other departments. The successful candidate has an outstanding research record in either soft or hard materials, with a strong focus on applications, ideally in robotics. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected. The new assistant professor must be an enthusiastic teacher, who will develop and teach courses in the Materials curriculum.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scien­tists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities. While this position is primarily intended to be at the Assistant Professor level, in exceptional cases applications at the Full Professor level will also be considered.
