I'm surprised that no one's mentioned PET 
(Programmers Extended Text editor) in 
this discussion.   

Out of the box it can automatically capitalize
Oberon keywords, itallicize comments ect.

It works with both Windows and Native Oberon
System 3.  It seems that it shouldn't be to
difficult to extend it to do some of the
things being proposed here.
