I think we are talking about the same book but you have an inferior
copy. 

The title of the book is 'Compiler Construction' by Niklaus Wirth. The
copy I bought from the bookshop was published in 1996. It has 176 pages.
Hoever, the last chapter is chapter 16 and on Page 137 it also has
"Exercises 16.1...". I suspect whoever duplicated yours must have
squashed every two pages onto one.

The good news is that there is a much better PDF copy available.

You need to download the official Nov 2005 PDF copy from the ETH
website. You'll be pleased to know this is only about 597Kb NOT the 6Mb
of the version that you have. The text CAN be extracted from this PDF
copy as it is NOT a set of images.
