Economics and politics come to mind as the main reason
Oberon has not seen a wider audience.
That raises the issue of how to sell Oberon to the masses?
The arguments are:
*save money* by using Oberon.
*time to market* will be less by using Oberon.
*reliability* will be greater by using Oberon.
*disk storage* will be less by using Oberon.
*software updates* will be easier using Oberon.
But the prerequisite of all that is the existence of
an *advocate* or multiple *advocates* who can walk
into an organization and quickly demonstrate how Oberon
would integrate into their culture. That takes homework
on the part of the advocate.
