Whoa.... Deception, 'not open'? Oberon is the epitome of 'open source', as
it looks to me so far. In fact, that is what is so amazing about it.
Someone like me, a total noob to Oberon, being able to trace down my issue
so easily is a testament to that. No other language is as 'open', or even
close to being more 'open'.
I would venture to guess that Professor Wirth, by in-lining these
particular procedures, did so to for a good reason. Probably the
performance gains warrant a wee bit of extra complexity?
The Oberon interface/desktop? My mouse has me totally lost, haha. I finally
figured out why the compiler wasn't working. I had stray selections
highlighted in other panels affecting the commands. You don't just sit down
and go in Oberon like other OS's. I see Oberon demands you to relearn from
the ground up. Of coarse, this is good and necessary to understand how to
use Oberon's advanced features.
