I'm surprised too, I've never seen that before.

Is it possible you're transmitting at 2Mbps?  That would explain it,
according to the datasheet, since 2Mbps transmission has 2MHz channel
spacing.

Again, I'd advise you to write something at each end which simply dumps
the nRF24 registers, so you can verify that your code is programming the
chip the way you think it is.
