Just confirmed that in S3, keying is exactly as described in 
http://www.ethoberon.ethz.ch/keyboard.html .  Should work in A2O with 
some programming.

7 bit ASCII would be enough in most embedded systems.  Beyond that, 
take S3 and V4 as examples.
