Considering the two topics, I'd find the first more interesting. A
family tree, including chronology, in Wikimedia Commons would be
particularly helpful to students.
Existing documents about boot managers seem adequate; to me at least.
A hypothetical potential improvement would be a merger of the two
pages,

The argument in favor of merger is that a single comprehensive
document is more useful to a novice than two documents addressing
roughly the same topic.
The argument against a merger is that it de-emphasizes the original
author.
A way to respect both positions is to keep the earlier documents and
write a new one. At present I can't tackle that.
