Professor of Integrated Immunology

The Department of Biology (www.biol.ethz.ch <http://www.biol.ethz.ch> ) at
ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.

The new professor will be expected to lead an independent, world-class
research program in the area of molecular immunology. The focus of this
professorship will be on the interaction of the immune system with diverse
tissue environments, with an emphasis on higher eukaryotic model organisms
and relevance to patients. Approaches may include studies exploring innate
and/or adaptive immune responses, responses to tissue damage caused by
microbial invaders, autoimmunity, or mechanical injury, as well as immune
responses in cancer, inflammatory or degenerative diseases. Candidates
working on a wide range of topics covered by immune biology and especially
using heterogeneous systems are encouraged to apply.

Commitment to an independent and modern teaching program is expected at the
undergraduate and graduate level. The professorship will strengthen the
curriculum of D-BIOL in the fundamental and concept lectures in the areas of
immunology and disease mechanisms. In general, at ETH Zurich undergraduate
level courses are taught in German or English and graduate level courses are
taught in English.

The professorship will be embedded in the Institute of Molecular Health
Sciences, which offers a diverse, highly interactive and interdisciplinary
biomedical research community. Significant synergy with the world-class
expertise in tissue remodeling, regeneration, molecular oncology, genome
engineering, functional genomics, metabolomics, and computational biology at
the department is anticipated.

ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family-friendly employer, values
diversity, and is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
