hmm, I only shortly tried to use the outdated package from
the repository and switched quickly to bootstrapping the
source package (which wasn't really difficult), so I googled
and found the following:

From: Luk Claes <luk at debian.org>
To: submit at bugs.debian.org
Subject: O: oo2c -- Optimizing Oberon-2 to ANSI-C Compiler
Date: Sat, 22 Jul 2006 12:30:18 +0200

The current maintainer of oo2c, Florian M. Weps <fmw at debian.org>,
is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please take it -- see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

The problem is that also the projects home page at sourceforge
looks very orphaned (as noted by Stewart Greenhill, an active
member of the project, see:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=49221C71.7070007%40u
sers.sf.net&forum_name=ooc-compiler)

yes, that's a pity ...
