Professor of Geotechnical Engineering


The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (www.baug.ethz.ch<http://www.baug.ethz.ch/index_EN>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering.

Candidates should hold a PhD degree in civil and/or geotechnical engineering and have a strong background in mechanics of solids and geotechnical engineering design as well as proved experience in the relevant research/industry and teaching domains.

The candidates should have a record of outstanding scientific/industrial achievements in geotechnical engineering and present a well-developed, novel and creative research programme with a clear emphasis on cutting edge research (experimental research background is an asset). They should be clearly committed to interdisciplinary research in an interdisciplinary environment. A track record of and a strong desire to work with national and international scientific and professional organisations are also important.

The candidates should be committed to excellence in education and support and implementation of modern teaching methods in Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering courses. The new professor will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English). They must have a vigorous record of scientific publication and externally funded research or outstanding industrial achievements, through individual and collaborative, national or international projects.
