Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Sustainable Food Processing

The Department of Health Sciences and Technology (www.hest.ethz.ch<http://www.hest.ethz.ch>) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned assistant professorship.

The assistant professorship will deal with the design of novel processes for optimized target property generation of food products by tailored structure transformation or synthesis, with special regard for sustainable processing aspects. The latter shall relate to: (i) biomass and (ii) energy use efficiency, as well as to: (iii) significant waste reduction along the food value chain and (iv) healthy and high quality food production. Besides factory processing, stepping up the food value chain and tackling novel challenges of field pre-processing are seen to be of great future importance.

Additional prerequisites are a strong motivation and an undisputable commitment to student education and teaching. The professorship will be embedded in the Department's program in Food Science and will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) as well as graduate level courses (English).

This assistant professorship has been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. The initial appointment is for four years with the possibility of renewal for an additional two-year period and promotion to a permanent position.
