Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Data Science and Analysis for Health

The Department of Health Sciences and Technology (www.hest.ethz.ch) of ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.
The proposed professorship aims to advance our provision of health care by generating and implementing new knowledge through informatics, analytics and decision science. The professorship will provide leadership and innovation in scientific computing for the management and analysis of large patient datasets, with the ultimate aim to develop predictive models to establish best practices in the diagnosis and treatment planning for individual patients. The establishment of new data science methods for the acquisition, querying and analysis of large datasets is expected to facilitate improved patient care in both the clinic and community setting.
The successful candidate is required to possess the computational, technological and scientific expertise relevant to requirement definition, system design and final implementation of large-scale medical data analytic applications. A demonstrated high level of innovation in the development and application of advanced algorithms as well as predictive models for the analysis of large-scale, heterogeneous, multi-centric medical datasets is essential. Demonstrated collaborations with clinicians, researchers and patients to identify user requirements and translate these requirements into solutions with a tangible impact would enhance the applicant's profile.
Additional prerequisites are a high motivation for and dedication to student education and teaching. The professorship will be embedded in the Department's program in Health Sciences and Technology as well as Human Medicine. At the assistant professor level, the ability to lead a research group is expected.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities.
