Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Cellular Metabolism and Disease

The Department of Biology (D-BIOL, www.biol.ethz.ch
<http://www.biol.ethz.ch> ) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the
above-mentioned position.

The new professor is expected to lead an independent, world-class research
program in the area of metabolism in health and disease and to address
illnesses with unmet clinical need. Recent topics may include studies
exploring signalling events and mechanisms that drive metabolic
reprogramming, investigating how metabolism aids adaptation of cells to the
environment under physiological conditions or in response to different types
of stress or injury, developing and advancing technologies to measure
metabolic fluxes at a cellular level in vivo, studying nutritional and
genetic influences on metabolic programming of the genome and epigenome, or
translating novel molecular knowledge on cellular metabolism into new
treatment strategies. Candidates using higher eukaryotes to address
questions with relevance to human disease are particularly encouraged to
apply.

Commitment to an independent and timely teaching program at the
undergraduate and graduate level in the areas of cell biology, physiology
and metabolic disease is expected.

The professorship will be embedded in the Institute of Molecular Health
Sciences, which offers a diverse, highly interactive, and interdisciplinary
biomedical research community. Significant synergy with the world-class
expertise in tissue remodelling, regeneration, immunology, molecular
oncology, genome engineering, functional genomics, metabolomics, and
computational biology at the department is anticipated.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of
younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent
to that of other top international universities.

ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family-friendly employer, values
diversity, and is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.

Please apply online: www.facultyaffairs.ethz.ch

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a
statement of future research and teaching interests, a description of the
leadership philosophy, a description of the three most important
achievements, and a certificate of the highest degree. The letter of
application should be addressed to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr.
Joël Mesot. The closing date for applications is 30 September 2024.
