Now that I have a USB memory working, my objective 
is to maintain a backup on the fixed disk at work
and at home.  Mirroring at the filesystem level 
would update the copy of any file on the fixed disk
immediately after the copy on the USB is updated.
Except for a short delay, the disk update would be 
invisible.

Also, when putting the USB into the home machine 
after a session at work and _vice versa_, I will  
want to update the disk.  

Partitions.* as you suggested, and OFSTools.GenCopyFiles
will serve.
