Jan & others,

=== Solution ===

At Thu Aug 11 22:26:06 2005,
jv>  ... CF -> IDE adapter. A 128 MB CF card is
jv > EUR 10 and the adapter is EUR 20 at Reichelt.

CF-IDE adapters were purchased from ACS in Florida;
20 $US each.  A 512 MB Kingston CF was 54 $CA
from a campus distributor.

The Aos Partition Panel would probably work but I
partitioned with MasterBooter.
"Partitions.Show detail ~" in Aos 08.06.05 reports thus.

Disk: IDE1, 497MB = 1018080 * 512, removable, CHS: 1010*16*63, SAMSUNG CF/ATA, mntcnt=0
IDE1#00          0   1018080   497MB --- (Whole disk)
IDE1#01         63    205569   100MB   6 * DOS FAT16 >= 32M
IDE1#02     205632    205632   100MB  76 Native Oberon, Aos
IDE1#03     411264    606816   296MB  76 Native Oberon, Aos

Approximately 1000 files copy from Zip to CF in about
5 minutes. So the CF works well for Aos. Thanks!

=== Problem ===

An adapter was also purchased for a 486 laptop with
Native Oberon. "Partitions.Show detail ~" in
Native on the desktop machine reports thus.

Disk: IDE1, GetSize: unsupported, removable, CHS: 1010*16*63, SAMSUNG CF/ATA, mntcnt=0
ReadPartitions: unsupported

So Native has trouble with the CF; it is unlikely
to work in the laptop until this is solved. I've
never seen this problem with an hdd. Perhaps someone
at ETH recalls the pertinent change which must have
been made in Partitons or ATA or something related.

Thanks,       ... Peter E.
