Reformatting the "working data" partition and 
copying all the files from the backup was all
that was needed.  

The Toshiba still boots from the SYS partition.
The damage appears to have been confined to the 
working data partition.

cg> They are to be considered as disposable.

Let's see when the next failure happens.  
Reformatting and copying from a backup is easy 
enough and while this CF lasts I have other 
uses for the $40.
