[Oberon] SSH.Tool, TCP/IP port forwarding and tunneling

Folk,

I am interested in using the TCP/IP port 
forwarding in SSH.Tool and need a little 
help with concepts.

Are port forwarding and ssh tunneling distinct 
concepts, implemented together because ssh 
tunneling is required for secure forwarding, 
or is tunneling a special case of forwarding, 
involving just two nodes?
