Hello:
The Chinese board that I discovered on Ebay looks quite similar to Papilio
Pro that is available from Gadget Factory. The Chinese board comes with
some VHDL and Verilog, but no community support. On the other hand, moving
the Papilio project to the Chinese board is probably a matter of
rearranging the pins in the UCF file.
Papilio Pro seems to be supported by a very active community. Hamster
Works published an SDRAM controller for that board. It means that the
SDRAM is now useable. Both the Chinese board and the Papilio Pro look like
viable FPGA development platforms to me.
They are running "ZPUino - Arduino on steroids: 100Mhz, 32-bit, 96Mhz, up
to 8MB code space" on the Papilio Pro. The RISC5 could run there as well.
So there are good FPGA hardware platforms out there.
Hope it helps -- Wojtek
