PPP on a serial crossover cable can perform similarly
to Ethernet on a crossover cable. In
http://easthope.ca/Shop.html#Links some of the notes
connected to "ETH Oberon, PC Native 05.01.2003, usage
notes." and "Networks" might help. Most of the complications
are for telephone modem use. For a serial crossover
cable, configuration and operation is simpler. The link
can be made to open automatically when Native O. boots.

The Sparcstation 2, for example, was limited to 9600 bps
or so. My old Toshiba laptops could run the line at
38400 bps. If that works, 57600 is also worth a try.

The Oberon ... usage notes also has a link to
http://easthope.ca/PPPnotes.html.

Feedback about the notes is welcome. They've received
little attention and must need improvements.
