To install Linux on a UEFI system, go into the firmware settings --
sometimes this may be a Windows application --  and disable
SecureBoot.

Then any UEFI-aware Linux distro, such as Ubuntu or Fedora, should install fine.

However, Windows might complain or even refuse to run, so you might
need to reinstall.

If you have 7, 8 or 8.1, upgrade to Win 10 *first*. Record your
license key. Win10 is now activated on your hardware. Download a clean
ISO image from Microsoft.com,  disable SecureBoot, wipe and reinstall
Windows with it off, _then_ you can dual-boot a clean, activated
Windows with Linux.
