I did the same as follows:
Install a task in Oberon loop to increment Kernel.clock. Improved by periodically align to time from NTP.

We have now added real-time time and date support for RISC5 FPGA Project Oberon systems by connecting them to a Maxim DS3234 RTC chip via the SPI interface. This device includes a battery backup system and keeps time with an accuracy of +/- 2 minutes per year.
The RTC feature enables automatic timestamping for Project Oberon files, and allows the implementation of remote datalogging applications and any other applications that rely on accurate timekeeping.
