Correct. In French there is no phonetic difference between "bit" and "byte"
-- both would be pronounced "beet" which is slang for the male reproductive
organ.
(You can _say_ the sound of the English "byte" but it would be written
"bajt" or something like that. B-Y-T-E would spell "beet".)
