Im Departement Architektur (www.arch.ethz.ch <http://www.arch.ethz.ch> ) der
ETH Zürich ist oben genannte Position zu besetzen. Die Professur ist dem
Institut für Entwurf und Architektur IEA (www.iea.arch.ethz.ch
<http://www.iea.arch.ethz.ch> ) zugeordnet.

Die neue Professorin bzw. der neue Professor betreut Grundlagenfächer im 1.
und 2. Semester des Bachelor-Studiengangs und begleitet weitere
Lehrveranstaltungen im Bachelor- und Master- Studiengang Architektur (inkl.
Master-Arbeit). Sie oder er vermittelt Grundlagen des Gestaltens und der
Kunst und fördert mit einer Vielzahl von konzeptuellen und praktischen
Mitteln die Fähigkeit zum kritischen Denken und die Entwicklung der
schöpferischen Gestaltungskraft. In der Forschung orientiert sich die neue
Professorin bzw. der neue Professor analog zur Lehre am neuesten Stand der
Wissenschaft auf dem Gebiet der Kunst, unter Berücksichtigung der
Entwicklungen, Einflüsse und Möglichkeiten digitaler Medien. Sie kooperiert
mit Professuren des Departements Architektur (zum Beispiel bei der Betreuung
von Master-Arbeiten) und arbeitet eng mit den Professuren des Instituts für
Entwurf und Architektur (IEA) zusammen.

Erfolgreiche Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sind international renommierte
Persönlichkeiten, verfügen über ein herausragendes Œuvre und über ein hohes
didaktisches Engagement. Sie demonstrieren, wie ihre Praxis und didaktische
Unterrichtsmodelle zu einer multidisziplinären Umgebung beitragen. Weiter
erwartet werden die Fähigkeit zur Führung einer Gruppe von Mitarbeitenden
und das Engagement für die Entwicklung des Departements über das eigene Fach
hinaus. Der Unterricht am Departement Architektur findet in Deutsch oder
Englisch statt.

Professor of Architecture and Art

The Department of Architecture (www.arch.ethz.ch <http://www.arch.ethz.ch> )
at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position. The
professorship is located at the Institute of Design and Architecture IEA
(www.iea.arch.ethz.ch <http://www.iea.arch.ethz.ch> ).

The new professor is mainly responsible for core courses for students in the
1st and 2nd semester of the Bachelor’s degree programme and co-advises
further courses in the Bachelor’s degree programme and in the Master’s
degree programme (incl. master’s thesis). She or he is called upon to teach
fundaments of art and to fully engage with the plurality of conceptual and
practical means by which students develop a creative mind and the ability
for critical thinking. Furthermore, she or he is expected to propose and
develop a state-of-the-art research agenda with regard to developments,
influences and opportunities of digital media. The new professor will
cooperate with chairs among the department, also with regard to the
supervision of master’s theses. Close collaboration with the existing chairs
at the Institute of Design and Architecture is of particular importance.  

The successful candidates are outstanding and internationally renowned
figures with a substantial œuvre and a fundamental didactical engagement.
They demonstrate how their practice and didactical teaching models will
contribute to a multidisciplinary environment. Responsible leadership of a
group of employees and the commitment to help develop the Department of
Architecture beyond the boundaries of the own field of expertise are
expected. The language of instruction should be German or English.
