That hasn't been my experience from the software view of the world. In the last 12 months I have had almost twice as many users request the free Starter version of Astrobe for RISC5 compared with the free starter version of Astrobe for Cortex-M3. That is despite the fact that the FPGA boards I support cost more than 4 times that of the Cortex-M3 boards.
If I need an FPGA board what does it matter to me how much a microcontroller board costs? To me it would be the same if I needed to buy an RC Quadcopter. Why would I care what an RC Buggy costs?
P.S. I only *want* an RC Quadcopter right now. Haven't yet found an excuse to *need* one unfortunately ;-)
